To mark the 100th birthday of the Academy founder and composer Pierre Boulez, his work Répons will be performed as part of the Lucerne Festival Academy 2025. The six solo parts in the work will be played by members of the Academy network; three of these have already been determined as part of the Contemporary Leaders program. This application applies to the three remaining solo parts: two for piano and one for percussion.

Répons is written for six soloists, chamber ensemble, computer sonics and live electronics. The title “Répons” is the French word for responsorium, a “dialogue” between cantor and congregation. Boulez’ work often shows an affinity for responsorial forms; in Répons, one hears dialogues of very different kinds: between the chamber ensemble and the soloists: between instrumental families, instrumental groups and individual instruments treated as soloists within the chamber ensemble itself: between the instruments of the soloist group: between transformed and untransformed sound (the soloist group is manipulated electro-acoustically, while the chamber ensemble remains unalienated).

We are looking for the three solo parts:

2 piano

The other solo parts have already been determined as part of the Contemporary Leaders program.
