Solsberg Academy 2026
The 21st Solsberg Festival will take place from June 25 to July 5, 2026. This year, the chamber music festival founded by cellist Sol Gabetta in Olsberg and Rheinfelden in the canton of Aargau will launch the Solsberg Academy for the first time. Because Sol Gabetta is committed to providing a platform for the next generation of artists, the Solsberg Young Artists series has been part of the festival for several years. This program for young talent enables her and the audience to get to know exciting personalities better. Her latest project, the Solsberg Academy, can also be understood in this sense. The transfer of knowledge between generations is also becoming an increasingly central element of Sol Gabetta's work and interests.
Sol Gabetta has invited her long-time teacher Ivan Monighetti to the first Solsberg Academy. From June 29 to July 3, 5-6 cellists will be taught in Rheinfelden by Monighetti, who until recently was a professor at the Basel Academy of Music for decades. Ivan Monighetti is still a sought-after and highly regarded lecturer (in Madrid, among other places) and focuses on teaching the most exciting young cellists in a few masterclasses each year. For Sol Gabetta, the invitation to Ivan Monighetti to lead the first masterclass at the Solsberg Academy is therefore of great emotional and personal significance.
