Situated in a small town in south-western Germany, the Donaueschiger Musiktage is one of Europe’s oldest new music festivals, this year celebrating its 100
th anniversary. For their first appearance at the festival, the LFCO has been invited to perform Boulez’s rarely heard early work
Polyphonie X, plus two world premieres.
Instruments required
2 flutes, 2 oboes, 1 bassoon, 3 horns, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone, 1 tuba, 6 percussion, 2 violins, 2 viola, 1 violoncello, 1 double bass
First rehearsal:
Wednesday 13 October, 18:00. All rehearsals will take place in Donaueschingen.
Fee and per Diem
CHF 750.00 gross
CHF 90.00 total per Diem
Travel
Arrival date: Wednesday 13 October
Departure date: Sunday 17 October
Lucerne Festival will cover the travel expenses (within Europe) of each musician to and from Donaueschingen.
Accommodation
The Donaueschinger Musiktage will arrange and cover the cost of accommodation (single hotel rooms) of each musician in Donaueschingen.

The Lucerne Festival Forward is a new annual festival devoted to the sounds and ideas of our time, offering a platform for contemporary music and giving a voice to musicians of the young generation. Curated and performed by fellow members of the Lucerne Festival Academy network, the programme encourages contact with listeners, experiments with unusual concert formats, focuses on lesser-known voices and aesthetic positions on the creation of contemporary music, and purposely mixes nationalities, generations, and genders.

First rehearsal
Tuesday 16 November, 10:00
OR Wednesday 17 November, 10:00 depending on instrumentation
All rehearsals will take place in Lucerne.
Fee and per Diem
CHF 350.00 gross per day
CHF 40 per Diem for each rehearsal/performance day, CHF 20 per Diem for each travel day
Travel
Arrival day: Monday 15 November
OR Tuesday 16 November depending on instrumentation
Departure day: Monday 22 November

Application requirements (both projects)
– One or two video recording(s) (maximum total 15 minutes) solo or chamber music made within the last two years
– Curriculum vitae in English (maximum of two pages)
Selection process (both projects)
The selection will be made of the Lucerne Festival Conteporary Leaders. The results of the selections will be announced by the mid-September 2021. There is no right of legal appeal. No correspondence regarding the decisions will be conducted.
