22–27 September 2026 in Ascona, Switzerland
With the Swiss recorder player Maurice Steger and the Zurich-based Baroque orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro, internationally recognized specialists in the interpretation and research of Baroque music are available for this project.
Offer
The Baroque Academy course programme includes both individual tuition as well as group lessons and workshops for the following instruments: recorder, baroque violin, baroque viola, baroque cello, and violone.
An integral part of the programme is the preparation of orchestral repertoire under the guidance of the section leaders of "Il Pomo d’Oro".
The workshops and rehearsal work of the recorder players and the Academy Baroque Orchestra culminate in two Academy final concerts.
The Academy’s credo is to develop an ensemble culture, practised in the afternoons through orchestral rehearsals, playing in ensembles with mixed instrumentation, and collaboration with continuo players. In the mornings, participants receive highly qualified instrumental training in the form of individual lessons with the respective professor. Each participant receives four individual lessons spread across the week.
Thematic Focus: In the first three editions, each year will portray an Italian city and its musical life during the Baroque period, examined from many different perspectives. The focus will be on instrumental music (winds and strings), with both chamber music in solo and consort formations as well as orchestral music being covered.
