Ensemble Proton Bern is an eight-member collective dedicated to the latest music. We play our instruments, we are interested in listening, in finding sound and expression together, and last but not least, in pushing boundaries.
Protonwerk is our platform for engaging with young musicians and developing their music. We are looking for artists who have a strong vision and take us into their world. This requires an intensive exchange that is often lacking in the everyday music business. With Protonwerk, we aim to create an environment where there is enough time for an extensive creative process.


We are looking for composers,

• who are transitioning from their studies into the professional world.
• who have developed an independent musical aesthetic and a personal style.
• who are interested in a deeper engagement with the ensemble: the collaborative creative process may extend over multiple cycles and a longer period.
• who are interested in placing their work in the context of our thematically conceived concert program.

Profile

• at least a bachelor's degree
• the most recent artistic degree should not be older than 5 years at the time of application
• resident in Switzerland and/or a Swiss citizen

With this call for applications, we invite all interested individuals to send us their dossiers.
3 or 4 of the applicants will be selected to write works of up to 25 minutes in length for us, which we will perform in 2027 or 2028. The selected applicants will receive a compensation (depending on the length/intensity of the collaboration).
